Hekekatti // New Moon Circle in Cancer
Luna in her home sign of Cancer manifests emotional nourishment and care, especially among kin, close-knit communities with shared roots, and chosen family. This Hekekatti // New Moon is in a flowing, supportive relationship with both Saturn in Pisces and Mars in Taurus, presenting an opportunity to take committed action toward care in the part of our lives associated with Cancer. With Mars in Taurus, this may be slow to start but can be determined, steady, and long-lasting, especially with support from Saturn, who values emotional commitment in Pisces.
Join me tomorrow for Hekekatti // New Moon Circle in Cancer! We’ll discuss the astrology of the moment and I will offer guidance as we practice intentional presence and attunement through each of our birth charts.
Love & Liberation in Taurus
As Jupiter meets Sol today in the last degrees of Taurus, I am thinking about how we may clarify our virtues in Venus’s earthen home. Taurus, a fixed, Venusian, earth sign, seeks to sustain love, pleasure, and harmony through the senses and grounding into land/earth/physical reality. Luna, who gives body to spirit, is honored in Taurus, making this last hekekatti, or new moon, a particularly potent time to plant seeds in the Taurean areas of our lives. Hekekatti’s influence is still present, and as I shared in a gathering I held last night with itai’no, this is an opportune time to commit to an enduring embodiment of our love and values.
Your Astrologer is Still Here
Da traha hahom’se // I am grateful. Thank you for being a part of my astrology practice. I am here and I continue offering consultations, though my lack of newsletters and social media posts may lead one to believe otherwise! I owe so much to my clients, the ones who return to me over and over, the ones who send their friends and loved ones to me, the ones who have offered kind reflections, and the ones who have yet to come. Sitting in consultation with you is a gift, it is a rare place where I feel truly fulfilled, doing what I know I am here to do: to see those who feel unseen, to hold space for space-holders, to bring understanding to the misunderstood, and to tilt the light in such a way that the shimmering web of our interconnectedness is revealed.
Talata Anuhauka// Happy Fall Equinox!
This equinox marks a season since I was reborn, as the summer solstice marked a moment of profound becoming. A moment I stepped fully into the light of Sol and into the river that carries me back to Bawa.
I have so much to share from my journey over the last season, and even more as we move into this next one. For now, I’ll begin with a prayer I recently transcribed and translated to Hiwatahia Taino, a reconstructed language of the Taino peoples from which I am descended. I ritually say this prayer in my astrology practice before I interpret someone’s chart for them or write about the astrological weather for my monthly Sacred Taino Healing newsletter forecasts.
May’s Astrology and Other Reflections
We begin our month with an eclipse in Scorpio, exact on May 5th. Unexpected circumstances or revelations may require us to let something go and make room for change or a new beginning. This can be a kind of Spring cleaning in some area of our lives, whether physical, social, or spiritual, where we sever emotional attachments in order to pursue tangible growth. This purge is supported by Mercury’s continued retrograde in Taurus, a good time to slowly and steadily review the usefulness of our wares and reflect on what is routinely easy versus what sustainably delights us and inspires our senses for truly embodied comfort.
Moving Into Pisces Season
It is a great sorrow to know with your whole heart how interconnected we are and how grossly that is denied by those who cling to power. It is a great sorrow to know that love is possible yet great violence on one another and Earth is institutionalized.
Pisces is a place of deep compassion and forgiveness, of love for all beings, of hope, empathy and the understanding that everything comes together as one in the end, and always. These are among the many reasons why love is held in such high regard here– why Venus is exalted in Pisces. We feel truly loved when we feel wholly accepted as we are, and when we reach a place of mutual understanding, we are connected.
With Venus meeting Neptune here in Pisces this week, love of all for the love of all becomes the ideal. When we look around us and see that this ideal is not being met in our greater community, that love becomes a grief that is so hard to carry that many of us dissociate.
February Reflections and Forecast
The month begins with Luna full in Leo, illuminating a radical impulse to be our most authentic selves, even if it goes against what we think our current social structures will accept. How can we be honest about who we are, take action towards what we truly want for ourselves, and still maintain relational harmony? Mercury’s move into Aquarius on the 11th after a long stint in Capricorn marks a mental shift that can concern us with our social responsibilities and ideological frameworks, perhaps helping us to process and reconcile what the full moon lit up for us.
Personal Cycles with the Planets
Understanding this through astrology acts medicinally– the struggle has eased by approaching this year’s hermit phase with insight and intention. Early in the year I set all my major goals for the period in which I was the most vibrant, and during these low-energy months, I allowed myself to retreat when I could and only work on what was absolutely necessary. I accomplished so much earlier this year, and was able to get the recovery and rest I needed during my hermit phase. I can’t say it wasn’t still a challenge, but it was manageable, and lessened by setting appropriate expectations for myself. I worked WITH the energy, instead of struggling against it.
On Electional Astrology: The Launch of tatiannimarie.com!
Electional astrology may seem attractive for those seeking that 'perfect moment' or control over how things play out– you can see why an idealistic person such as myself would be drawn to it. Instead, working with elections has me confronting this part of myself and learning to let it go. Not only because there will always be something challenging in a chart, but because we miss the moment when we are caught up with being ready for it.
The Dance between Mercury and Jupiter: NORWAC Reflections
Astrologically speaking, there are two planets most associated with education: Mercury, responsible for how we think and process information, and Jupiter, the great seeker of deep knowledge. While Mercury collects and analyzes data, Jupiter, makes meaning through integration and experience. Where Mercury finds expertise, Jupiter finds wisdom. If NORWAC was a Mercurial environment, a rapid exchange of ideas, then my time spent on the Olympic Peninsula in the days following was of Jupiter.
Aries Season Musings: Jupiter Conjunct Neptune
Consider the value of grand vision and unceasing hope in a world that needs changing. This is a time to let our fantasies run wild, to revel in the endless possibilities of a more equitably abundant future while keeping in mind:
hope is most powerful when realities are examined and we step forward into our dreams with confident intention.
